about

I made this up. All of it. It’s pure fiction, but like most fiction, it’s informed by the life experience of the author. And like good fiction, it tries to reveal truth. Sometimes that truth is serious, sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it aims to move your heart or just your feet.

I started this project in March 2020, and finished it in May 2021. I wrote everything, played real acoustic and electric guitars, fiddle, mandolin, lap steel, dobro and bass VI. I programmed virtual drums, bass, keys, pedal steel, strings and more. I sang everything, except one song and a couple harmonies, on which my friend Inanna Andres helped me out. I produced, recorded and mixed the whole thing in my home studio.

You’ll probably notice that the time span of the creation of the project coincides with that of the Covid-19 global pandemic. The inability to collaborate with others in person served as the catalyst for me to see if I could do this on my own.

In addition, for three months, I suffered a paralyzed vocal cord. That resulted in the three instrumental pieces, and the singing that Inanna so ably tracked in her home studio. Happily, I’m now recovered.

So, here’s what I did during my lockdown. It ranges all over the musical map stylistically. But I think it all fits comfortably into the broad category of Americana. I sincerely hope you’ll enjoy it.

Bill Edwards is both a master of the songwriting craft and a seasoned and compelling performer. He started his career in the singer-songwriter scene in Buffalo, NY in the 70’s, and his journey has led him through bluegrass to country-rock, to classic country and Americana.

All along the way, the constant has been songwriting.

He writes songs that will move your heart or move your feet.
